Cookie Policy

The short version
This site is run from Miami for a mostly US audience, so analytics and marketing cookies are switched on when you arrive and you can switch them off at any moment — in the banner, or through “Your Privacy Choices” in the footer of every page. Opting out is one click and takes effect immediately. Visitors from Europe are asked first instead, and nothing loads for them until they agree.
What a cookie is
A small file a website asks your browser to keep, so that something can be remembered between page views. Similar technologies — local storage, pixels, tags — do the same job, and everything below applies to them too.
What we use
1. Strictly necessary — always active
When you answer the banner, we record the answer so we do not ask again on every page. This is kept in your browser’s local storage under the key timroom.consent — not in a cookie, because it would be absurd to set a cookie in order to remember that you refused cookies. It stays until you clear your browser data or change your choice, contains only your two yes/no answers plus the date, and is never sent to us or to anyone else.
This one has no on/off switch. It exists solely to honour the decision you made, it identifies nothing about you, and under both EU and US rules a record of your own privacy choice is exempt from consent. Everything else on this page is optional.
2. Analytics — only if you allow it
If you accept, we load a web analytics service that tells us which pages are read, how long people stay and which sites or searches brought them here. We use it to decide what to improve — nothing more. We do not use it for advertising, we do not build profiles, and we do not combine it with the enquiries you send us.
These cookies are set by the analytics provider and typically include an identifier for your browser, valid for up to two years, plus a short-lived one that separates one visit from the next. We ask the provider to shorten your IP address before it is stored.
Turn analytics off and we stop collecting immediately; the page reloads so that nothing further runs.
3. Marketing — only if you allow it
Separately from analytics, you can allow a Meta (Facebook) pixel. It records that a browser visited our site and which actions were taken — for example sending the enquiry form — so that our advertising on Facebook and Instagram can be shown to people with a genuine interest in interior design, and so we can tell whether that advertising works at all.
The pixel sets cookies of its own, typically _fbp for about three months, and sends Meta the address of the page you are on. Meta may match that with an account you are logged into. This is advertising technology, not statistics, which is why we ask for it as a separate permission rather than bundling it with analytics.
Turn marketing off and the pixel stops: no further request reaches Meta. Turning analytics off does not affect this one, and vice versa — they are independent switches.
What we do not use
- No advertising cookies beyond the Meta pixel described above, and none at all unless you allow marketing.
- No trackers on our links to Instagram, Behance and Pinterest — those are ordinary links.
- No fonts, scripts or images loaded from third-party CDNs; everything is served from our own domain.
- No cross-site tracking beyond the pixel, and no sale of any data to anyone.
Browser signals we honour
If your browser or an extension sends the Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a decision to refuse everything optional before anything loads: no analytics, no marketing pixel, and no banner. Several US state laws require this signal to be honoured, and we apply it to every visitor regardless of where they are — it overrides the default above.
Changing your mind
Use the Cookie settings link — it is also in the footer of every page — to reopen the banner and change either choice independently. Declining after having accepted stops any further collection. You can also opt out of Meta’s advertising in your Facebook or Instagram ad preferences, and you can delete cookies and site data for this domain in your browser settings at any time; browsers offer this under Privacy, and most also have a “block third-party cookies” option we respect by default.
Links to other sites
Following a link to Instagram, Behance, Pinterest or Google Maps takes you to a different company’s website, which sets its own cookies under its own rules. We have no control over those and no access to what they collect.
Changes to this policy
If we add or change an analytics or marketing tool, we will update this page, change the date at the top and ask for your consent again before the new tool runs. Questions: contact@timroom.com. See also our Privacy Policy.
